AC
Motor Remanufacturing
Matlock Electric
uses quality materials and replacement parts to insure a
quality repair. Mechanical parts are closely examined and
measured in our machine shop. In-house dynamic balancing
of all rotating parts is also provided to assure precision
vibration results. Matlock is a certified SKF facility,
using only the latest technology to guarantee the proper
installation of the highest quality bearings.
Our rewinding
process includes only high temperature, Thermaleze Q inverter
grade copper magnet wire, Class H Nomex in-slot and phase
insulation with polyester or epoxy resins available through
our exclusive VPI* system. Winding data is verified with
engineering programs based on both Manufacturer's and EASA
data. All magnetic cores are tested and repaired to insure
maximum efficiency. Vacuum
Pressure Impregnation (VPI*) with epoxy resin
completes the rewinding process.
Throughout the
remanufacturing process, each operation is completed by
well-documented testing procedures, including surge testing.
This aides Matlock in upholding its strict Quality Control
Remanufacturing Policies.

DC
Motor Remanufacturing
With literally
decades of experience, DC equipment repair has become a
specialty at Matlock Electric. We service a wide variety
of industrial customers and also provide services to other
motor repair centers.
DC motors
need maintenance often because they are subject to various
speeds, types of loads, and contaminants in addition to
the normal brush and commutator wear. Close examination
and special test procedures such as surge, high frequency,
hipot, dynamometer and megger testing are a must in this
business. Precision tolerances and proper brush grades are
required to maintain good commutation and brush life. Small
problems left unattended often turn into unexpected production
breakdowns.
All coils are wound on computerized machines for uniformity
and accuracy utilizing Class H wire, phase insulation, and
other insulating materials. All units are dynamometer load
testing prior to shipment. This insures that the units can
operate in the harsh conditions of a plant setting.
Our DC department utilizes equipment such as our JEMS Armature
Cleaning System,
CAM Automatic Laser Commutator Undercutter,
Baker
Advanced Winding Analyzer, A&W
Dynamometer Load Tester and Miller
Syncrowave Welder that enables us to deliver
the best quality and repair your equipment.

Testing
Matlock
uses diagnostic testing equipment throughout the remanufacturing
process to insure quality workmanship. All testing data
is documented and logged into our database for future reference
and baseline trending.
One of the most critical capabilities of an electric motor
repair shop is the ability to test run remanufactured motors
at full rated nameplate voltage. Test running electric motors
at full rated voltage is important for several reasons.
Accurate vibration levels can be measured only at full voltage
and mechanical problems do not always show up at less than
full voltage. The most reliable electrical test of a winding
is energizing the winding for full voltage tests.
Customers of
Matlock Electric receive remanufactured motors that have
been fully tested and run at nameplate voltage. This insures
reliable operation when the motor is installed in the plant.
